The history of domestic subways has not yet passed a century, but it has already left a lot of very curious artifacts for collectors, the main of which are tokens.
In June 1955, the production of type "D" cars started - a little more comfortable and lighter in weight when compared with the earlier models. The image of the Soviet novelty found a place on the reverse of the Moscow token of the second half of the 50s. Note that the letter "M" of a special type, shown on the front side, has become a symbol of the Moscow metro.
The shown token lasted only six years in circulation, because in 1961 fare was introduced throughout the Soviet Union in the usual five-kopeck coin.
The rarity of the token lies in the fact that in 1961 all the tokens were removed from circulation and sent to the mint for melting.
