    Description

National Air Races Cleveland 1939 J Tichenor Press Photo & Field Service Ribbon. Two objects in this aviation lot.
First object: Photo of Jessie Horsfall Tichenor, co editor of Aero Digest Magazine with husband Frank A. Tichenor.
Jessie is wearing her National Air Races 1939 Press ribbon in photo.
Second object: a loose National Air Races Cleveland Field Service ribbon which is not attached to any pin devise. It is red and has the flying aviator head with 3 airplanes logo. This ribbon may predate the photograph. It could be from the 1929 air show, I have not found a similar ribbons to compare it to.
July 1925 Frank Tichenor was on committee for the National Air Race at Mitchell Field Long Island Oct. 8, 9 & 10 with Pulitzer Trophy as the prize during the National Aeronautic Association Convention.
Frank A. Tichenor and Jessie Horsfall drove Charles Lindberg to Curtiss Field a bit before 3 am May 20, 1927 and came upon a crowd of more than five hundred onlookers.
The Frank A. Tichenor scrapbook was found in his widow, Jessie H. Tichenor’s home in nearby Exmore, Va. on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and sold in an estate sale along with a wealth of historical items from the Tichenor collection. Sunday Historical is proud to make these historic Aviation objects available for private purchase.
