    Description

    Ntomo masks are used by the Bamana people of West Africa.The Bambana Ntomo mask were worn by boys as they pass through the early cycle of initiation into manhood. The masks reinforce the lesson the boys are taught as they are prepared by elder males in the society for circumcision. During their time in Ntomo, they learn to accept discipline, The mask was also used at agricultural festivities and to prevent illness.
