Struck in
0.958 fine silver.
My experience has been that Sterling silver (.925) coins and these 0.958 fine silver coins tend to retain their visual properties better verses .999 pure silver coins. It seems like the added-in alloy(s) help a coins longer term appearance - lower risk of toning, discoloration, spots developing, etc. That's MY OPINION / observation, and may or may not be valid.
Obverse:
Obverse of the coin is graced by the Ian Rank-Broadley profile of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The inscriptions "ELIZABETH II D.G." REG. F.D.", "REG FID DEF" and "2 POUNDS."
Reverse:
Reverse design by designer Philip Nathan.
Inscribed are "BRITANNIA," "2004", "ONE OUNCE FINE SILVER".
I purchased this coin 'raw' a few years ago, sent it into NGC for certification, and have kept it stored away as part of my personal coin collection since. Time to let it go.
NGC Great Britain custom label
- with NGC Scratch-resistant holder
Coin, OGP, and COA have been kept in a smoke-free, temperature & humidity controlled environment since I purchased them.
Double-checked for "Milk Spots"
, any surface issues... none visible to me. Coin background is mirror-like nearly perfect. Obverse side rim has some beautiful gold toning - evenly distributed. A small hint of beautiful gold toning appears on the Reverse (front) near the 2-4 o'clock position. Gold toning is viewable in pictures provided.
COA is included.
Note that in 2004 The Royal Mint did NOT serialize (assign a unique number like '1234') their Certificate Of Authenticity. So the COA is included, however, it does not have COA 'number'. One of the pictures in this listing shows the full front and back of the COA pamphlet.
